If your unit has been sitting around for a long time, it may be hard to start. Try these easy steps before calling:
1. Gasoline generators
1.) Check oil level and add more if necessary.
2.) Replace old fuel from the fuel tank, and drain out old fuel from carburetor by loosing the plug bolt on the bottom side of it.
3). Make sure fuel valve is open.
4.) Check all generator parts for integrity.
5.) Change the blocked fuel filter if necessary. (see engine manual).
2. Diesel generators
1.)Check oil level and add more if necessary.
2.)Make sure fuel valve is on the on position.
3.)Drain out the air bubbles from the fuel line.
4.)Check if the fuel pump works well by cranking the engine and at same time loosing the connecting nut between high pressure pipe and fuel pump, Make sure you can see fuel splashing from the outlet of the fuel pump, or you should change a new fuel pump.
This depends on the engine manufacturer's specifications. Generally, high quality 30-weight detergent is acceptable for summer conditions; high quality 10W-30 is acceptable for winter conditions, but we recommend you refer to your engine manual
